The Hydrological Session, HS04 — Hydrological Processes in Agricultural Lands, of 13th Annual Meeting of Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AGOS) conference, has been successfully held in China National Convention Center, Beijing, on August 3, 2016. AOGS was established in 2003 to promote geosciences and its application for the benefit of humanity, specifically in Asia and Oceania and with an overarching approach to global issues. AOGS has developed good co-operations with other international geo-science societies and unions such as the European Geosciences Union (EGU) and American Geophysical Union (AGU).

HS04 is one of the sessions in Hydrological Sciences. The session was convened by Dr. Jun Niu from the Center for Agricultural Water Research in China (CAWR). The professors and researchers from Tsinghua University, The University of Hong Kong, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, and Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences gave totally 6 oral presentations and 3 poster presentations for this session.

Prof. Fuqiang Tian from Tsinghua University talked about the potential risk of secondary salinization in cotton fields under film mulched drip irrigation in Northwest China. Prof. Yiping Wu from Xi'an Jiaotong University presented us the impacts of agricultural residue harvesting on soil and water conservation. Dr. Songjun Han from China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research discussed how agricultural development affected temporal changes of evapotranspiration demand in Northeast China. Dr. Jun Niu from CAWR reported the irrigation effects over the Heihe River basin, Northwest China. The audience of about 60 attended the session. The audiencesfrom McGill University, University of New South Wales, Zhejiang University, and Chinese Academy of Sciencesdiscussed the scientific issues with the speakers.
